ABOUT PASSPORTS
In order to travel to the Philippines
you need only a current passport. In order to get your passport you
need to contact your city government to find out where you go to get
one. The cost for my visa was $80.00 this was in 2004, not sure if
this has gone up or not, but most likely not more than $100.00. You
are not required to have shots, however I would visit my doctor just
in case. When you are ready to travel you will need a round trip
ticket or at least a ticket going somewhere outside of the
Philippines. If you do not have one you can be made to purchase one at
a higher rate at immigrations. Some including myself were not asked
for one, my recommendation is to get one. I have an open ticket to
Hong Kong good for up to one year.

Cebu City Bureau of
Immigrations
The Bureau of Immigrations in Cebu City
has limited parking, I suggest parking at the nearby mall (SM) and
riding a taxi. You will have no problems hailing a taxi to get back to
the mall.
ABOUT VISAS
21 DAY VISA All
arrivals to the Philippines, with a valid passport and a valid return
ticket, are automatically issued a 21 day visa
free of charge at the port of entry.
59 DAY VISA 59 day visas are issued at the
Department of Immigration in Cebu City, or in Manila at the American
Embassy, before the 21 day visa expires. An expired visa will be
charged a late fee of 1.000.00 pesos for up to a month late. This is about
20.00 US Dollars.
You may be asked to show a valid return ticket, so don't forget to
bring it with you when you visit your local Immigrations.
If you wish to apply for the 59 Day visa, or a six months visa, before you travel you You can
apply at the Philippines Embassy for a fee of $30 for the 59 and I do
not know the cost for the six months. If anyone knows please
email me. You need to send
them your application; passport; passport photo: and a copy of your
latest bank statement. Payment must be made by money order or
certified bank check. They will not accept personal checks.
6 MONTHS VISA
Q/A
What is a 'return ticket' - It is either a round trip ticket showing
that you have a valid return ticket to the port of which you
originally traveled form or a port outside the Philippines like Taiwan
or Malaysia. In my case I purchased a
one way ticket to Hong Kong and keep it with me whenever I travel or
extend my visa. also known as an "onward ticket" Hong Kong is getting
to be more expensive so try other nearby locations. You can get a
cheap ongoing, or return ticket to Singapore for about $13 - $35 depending on
your travel date. That ongoing
ticket must be dated before your visa expires.
Q/A
How long can I stay in the Philippines - I have been here up to a year
making the trip to Cebu City to extend my visa about every two months
or 59 days (59 Day Visa). You can extend up to a year but must leave
the country on or before the one year anniversary. My wife and I made
a short five day trip to Hong Kong as we had not seen Hong King yet.
When we returned I automatically get a One Year Visa as long as my
wife is with me when we go through the Philippine Customs and
Immigrations at the port of entry.
NOTE: To get the one year visa your wife must be a Filipino citizen
and be with you when you travel.
